Nikos Gorgoraptis is a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Neurology with an interest in cognitive impairment following brain injury.

Current research projects include molecular imaging in traumatic brain injury and multimodal imaging and cognitive assessment in post-traumatic amnesia.

Dr Olivia Poole

Dr Olivia Poole is based at the Department of Neuromuscular Diseases, UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, UK. She has an interest in epilepsy related to mitochondrial diseases. She hopes to use her research experience in her future career to improve knowledge and treatments in this challenging aspect of mitochondrial disease.

Ruth is a Consultant Neurologist at Barts Health Trust and Clinical Senior Lecturer in Neurology at the Wolfson Institute .She is currently joint clinical lead for neurology at the Royal London Hospital.

Ruth has with extensive experience in multiple sclerosis and related disorders. Her current research projects include the role of the Epstein Barr virus in MS, and a multi-centre pharmacovigilance study in MS. She is also studying the role of modifiable factors such as vitamin D in the development of MS and its subsequent complications, and is currently working on the development of a pre-symptomatic high-risk register.

Her specilism is in multiple sclerosis (MS), with research interests around pathways leading to MS development, the safety of MS treatments in clinical practice, and MS and pregnancy. I am currently running a number of studies, including a national pharmacovigilance study in MS, and the UK MS pregnancy register. My research also examines the impact of ethnicity and socioeconomic factors on both MS risk and outcomes, including potential inequities in patient access to care.

Dr Charles Marshall is a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant Neurologist at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. He leads the Preventive Neurology Unit's work on dementia.

Charles' interests are in predicting and preventing dementia through improved understanding of the causes, and has a particular clinical interest in rare, atypical and familial dementias. He is also researching strategies for treating dementia before symptoms begin.

Dr Apeksha Shah is a Neurologist and physician at The Royal London Hospital, and Newham Hospital.

She is Care Centre Director at MND London Barts & London

Dr Britta Wandschneider is Clinical Research Associate, and Consultant Neurologist at Royal London Hospital.

Alastair is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Preventive Neurology Unit at the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine, Queen Mary University of London, and a Consultant Neurology Registrar at Barts Health NHS Trust.

Alastair's main research interests are Parkinson's disease and related neurodegenerative disorders, particularly early identification and epidemiology, including environmental, clinical and genetic determinants. His other interests include objective measurement of motor and non-motor features of Parkinson's.

Prof. Gavin Giovannoni was appointed to the Chair of Neurology, Blizard Institute of Cell and Molecular Science, Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London and the Department of Neurology, Barts and The London NHS Trust in November 2006. In September 2008 he took over as the Neuroscience and Trauma Centre Lead in the Blizard Institute of Cell and Molecular Science.

Gavin did his undergraduate medical training at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, where he graduated cum laude in 1987 winning the prizes for best graduate in medicine and surgery. He moved to the Institute of Neurology, University College London, Queen Square, London in 1993 after completing his specialist training in neurology in South Africa. After three years as a clinical research fellow, under Professor Ed Thompson, and then two years as the Scarfe Lecturer, working for Professor W. Ian McDonald, he was awarded a PhD in immunology from the University of London in 1998.

He was appointed as a Clinical Senior Lecturer, Royal Free and University College Medical School, in 1998 and moved back to Institute of Neurology, Queen Square in 1999. He was promoted to Reader in Neuroimmunology in 2004. His clinical interests are multiple sclerosis and other inflammatory disorders of the central nervous system. He is particularly interested in clinical issues related to optimising MS disease modifying therapies.
